Fake Iran Protests

Have been meaning to post on this, but saw a post on it on another blog and so I commented as follows:

The Iranian "revolution"/"protests" are a creation of outsiders. There are real people over there protesting and upset (and there are people here and in the rest of the world protesting various things), but this is largely being staged/pumped up by outsiders. Several commentators have indicated it has all the marks of a staged CIA "color revolution." The fact that all the signs are written in English is a big tip off. If I'm not mistaken, according to the CIA factbook, only 1% of Iranians know English and the language is considered with distain. All the twitter accounts were created about the same time and are largely identical to each other. The Iranian twitter people will discuss blog posts where the blogger has confirmed that no one from Iran visited their blog. There are a number of other indicators that this whole thing is nonsense and there is no popular support. If you look at either of the following books you will see that we have staged this sort of thing in the past and the usual result is either a new regime that is twice as bad or it fails and a bunch of people are slaughtered:

It would be pretty awesome if our CIA were actually capable of such a feat.

Well, in the words of John Adams, "It's a lot easier to tear things apart than to build things up." Or words to that effect. Check out those books, the CIA does it all of the time.

I think you meant to write that the US may have stirred the pot prior to the riots. After all, Seymour Hirsch wrote in the New Yorker magazine in 2007 that Pres. Bush had approved millions to destabilze Iraq and support opposition groups. Did those people just clear out their desks and go home once Obama was elected? Civis...just giving you a chance to clarify.... I don't think you are implying this is all fake, right?

The Iranian "revolution"/"protests" are fake.

Not sure that needs any clarification. According to Civis, its all fake - like the astronauts supposedly walking on the moon. Poppy-Cock!

If you don't have a blogspot account you can select "name/url" and put in your name or a nickname (you don't need a URL).

You're right, I should clarify. I am not saying there are not real people over there protesting, I'm saying I think someone from outside set this up. Here is what I wrote on another blog:

Oh there are real people over there protesting, no doubt about it, and real people have died. And conspiracy theories make me cringe. I just feel pretty sure that the protestors are being pumped up by foreigners. I'm not claiming to be an expert, and I'd probably lose a debate on this, because I'm no expert, but I'm just real suspicious of the whole thing--especially in light of our long history of regieme changes.

Two of the commentators that come to mind are Paul Craig Roberts (at counterpunch.org)and Eric Margolis (on Lew Rockwell). A third is a guy, and this is the one that talked about the twitter accounts and that they discussed his post, yet no one from Iran visited his site. I can't paste the full link here but it is http://intifada-palestine.com, (though he credits Israel rather than the U.S. with shennanigans--he's Jewish). The other indicators: The huge one for me is that the American media can't stop talking about it, which always makes me a little suspicious. I know next to nothing about the political scene there, but I have been reading about how the protests don't make sense in light of the political alignments within Iran--see commentators mentioned above.

I think we need to keep our heads about this. We got all pumped up and invaded Iraq and it's been by and large a disaster. Looking back we also see that the Bush Administration really blew everything out of porportion and fabricated a few things. I don't want us to do that again. I think we need to have a health suspicion about going to war and meddling abroad. And Pat Buchanan (I think this was on Sean Hannity's show) has made a good point that any strong words we use against Iran will encourage people to be bold thinking we will help, and then when we don't get involved, they are going to get hurt. I don't want to see them getting slaughtered.

Civis, your certainly not alone in your beliefs that this is all faked by the CIA -

In another development, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said he believed the US was behind the protests in Iran.

He offered no evidence but said the unrest in Iran followed a pattern seen in various countries, where the CIA and "the imperial hand" of European countries were involved.
